Seattle Storm win over LA Sparks in nail biter 89-83
In a day that was packed with the energy of a stadium filled with kids on the 2024 Kids Day it was a tight game for the LA Sparks that saw an offense that continues to try to find it’s potency in late game situations.
In a hard-fought battle, Jewell Loyd and Nneka Ogwumike powered the Seattle Storm to an 89-83 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks. Loyd’s 30 points and seven assists, combined with Ogwumike’s 23 points, 10 rebounds, and six steals against her former team, were the difference-makers in this matchup. Ogwumike, who moved past Lisa Leslie for 12th on the WNBA career scoring list, delivered in clutch moments, while Loyd’s relentless scoring caused issues for the Sparks that have struggled to put together defensive stops in late game situations. Despite a hard fought effort from Azura Stevens and the Sparks, Seattle’s dynamic duo proved too strong, closing the game with an 11-0 run that left the Sparks searching for answers.
The Sparks enter the Olympics break with two of their players competing in the games with Stephanie Talbot Announced to Australian Olympic Roster, and Dearica Hamby representing team USA Basketball in the 3x3 competition.
